Simple Steps for Unaffiliated Voters
Due to a change in Colorado Law, unaffiliated voters are now eligible to vote in primary elections. If you are unaffiliated, you will receive a mail ballot packet with a Democratic Party ballot and a Republican Party ballot. You may also choose a ballot preference before the election to only receive one party’s ballot in your mail ballot packet. Follow the simple steps listed below to participate in the 2018 Primary Election.
Step 1: Choose a Party Preference
If you are an unaffiliated voter, you may choose a ballot party preference online or fill out a paper form by early May 2018.
Please note that choosing a ballot preference will not change your political party, it just lets us know which ballot to send you.
Your party preference is deleted from your voter registration record after the primary election.
You are not required to select a party preference. If you do not select a party preference by early May 2018, your mail ballot packet will have the Democratic Party and Republican Party ballots.
Step 2: Be on the Lookout for Your Mail Ballot Packet
Ballots will be mailed to eligible electors starting on June 4, 2018. If you have not received your ballot by June 12, 2018, please give us a call
at 719-575-VOTE (8683).
Step 3: Return Your Voted Mail Ballot
Be sure to vote and return only one party’s ballot. Please destroy and discard the ballot you choose not to vote.
Please note that if you vote and return both ballots, neither will be counted.
